When we consider who Jesus is, and the gifts He has given us to build us and empower us spiritually, it is too much to ask to use these gifts to serve Him? Jesus came to serve humanity, and present an example by God Himself of what a life that is, faithful, obedient, and focused on God daily looks like.
Mathew 20:28
28just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many."
Jesus' example that when followed will impact our life and those around us. Jesus was obedient to the work that God had sent Him to do, even to His death. While He was here He shared His thoughts and actions with us, thoughts and actions that we should model to direct the actions and attitudes of our heart and mind toward Him.
Phillipians 2:5
5Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus,
Daily time in prayer and His word allows Him to speak to us, but that is just the beginning. He has things for us to do. Jesus needs us to be an example of faithfulness, obedience and to use the gifts has graced us with so He can build us and empower us spiritually. He gave us gifts to show us who He knows we can become, and do the work that will be an example to the world about who Jesus is and what He will do for those who believe. When we are faithful and obedient God will place in our heart what He needs us to do, and leaves it to us to take action. What are we willing to do for Him?
4Therefore whoever humbles himself as this little child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.
Keeping Him in the center of each day will allow God to present to us opportunities to use our gifts to serve Him, that will over time build us and empower us spiritually, but we must be faithful.
Isaiah 40:30-31
He gives power to the weak,
And to those who have no might He increases strength.
30 Even the youths shall faint and be weary,
And the young men shall utterly fall,
31 But those who wait on the Lord
Shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles,They shall run and not be weary,They shall walk and not faint.
