Meet Pastor Christian Newsome:

Pastor Christian Newsome is currently the Senior Associate/Teaching Pastor at First Family Church in Overland Park, Kansas. As the Senior Associate/Teaching Pastor, Pastor Christian is responsible for all of the day to day operations of the 4,000 member church, including oversight of all church ministries and ministers and teaching duties in “The Bible Hour”, a weekly teaching ministry on Sunday morning, and the Lead Teaching Pastor of “The Journey”, the church’s Sunday evening Worship Service.

Prior to serving in this position, Pastor Christian served as First Family Church’s Youth Pastor. Under Pastor Christian’s leadership, the church’s youth group grew from 40 students in weekly attendance to over 400 students in weekly ministry attendance. The final year of his Youth Ministry First Family Church took over 600 of their own teens to Summer Youth Camp.

Pastor Christian and his wife Danielle have been married 10 years and have two children, Christian II (8 years old) and Kasey (5 years old). Pastor Christian’s first ministry is to his wonderful wife and two children…they are the joy of his life.

Pastor Christian serves as the coach of all of his son’s sports teams, and he is the “Prince” to his “Princess” Kasey, taking her on “Daddy/Daughter Date Nights” and spoiling her in a manner that will make it difficult for any young man to ever steal her heart. Pastor Christian observes a weekly date-night with his wife Danielle, who also serves in full-time ministry as the Worship Leader at First Family Church, and they observe a “family night” each week with their children where they love to grill-out and watch sports and movies together as a family.

Pastor Christian answered the call to ministry as a college student at Liberty University and graduated from both Liberty University and Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary with three degrees in Religion and Ministry. In 2000 Pastor Christian received his B.S. in Religion with a specialization in Youth Ministry. In 2006 Pastor Christian received his M.A. in Religion from Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary and in 2008 he received his Master’s of Divinity from the same seminary.

Pastor Christian and his wife Danielle met as students at Liberty University, where Christian was the starting quarterback for the Liberty football team under former NFL Coach of the Year, Sam Rutigliano.

As a football player, Christian led a very successful collegiate and high school career. As a two year starting quarterback Christian played 22 consecutive games for the Division 1-AA Liberty Flames where he threw for nearly 4,000 yards and 30 touchdowns. During his time at Liberty, he was also a GTE Academic All-American Nominee, finishing his undergraduate career with a 3.9 GPA and completing his un dergraduate degree in three and one half years.

In High School Christian graduated 4th in his Senior Class with a 3.98 G.P.A., was the Senior Class President, the President of Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and a member of the National Honor Society. He is also a member of the Paint Valley High School Athletic Hall of Fame, being inducted in 2006.
